Janno Gibbs & Manilyn Reynes Reveal They Really Fell In Love With Each Other During 'That's Entertainment' Days

JANNO GIBBS and Manilyn Reynes used to be a love team in “That’s Entertainment” where they were first paired in 1986. On the big screen, they were paired in Regal’s “Jack en Poy” to support the Maricel Soriano-William Martinez love team in 1987. Then they did “Stupid Cupid”, “Bunsong Kerubin” and “Magic to Love”. They now admit that they indeed went steady during those times.

“But by the time we did ‘Feel na Feel’ in 1989, hindi na kami nag-uusap,” says Janno.

What happened? “E, pag bata ka pa, lahat big deal sa’yo,” says Mane. “I was just 16 then, he’s 18. Sa totoo lang, puro away kami.”

Then Janno met Bing Loyzaga and she got pregnant. Their eldest daughter, Alyssa, is now 25 and the younger one, Gaby, is 16. They parted ways for a while but Janno says they’re now “okay na okay na”. As for Manilyn, she met Aljon Jimenez when they were paired in ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll 2’ and now they have three sons: Kyle, 17 years old; Kirk, who’s 11; and Kael, almost 3.

Mane is now 42 years old while Janno is 44. For the first time after so many years, they are reunited anew in GMA-7’s new 6 PM soap, “My BFF”, a wholesome family comedy-drama. They play the parents of Mona Louise Rey, whose best friend is a ghost, Jillian Ward.

“Maraming good family values ang show kaya enjoy akong gawin ito,” says Mane. “Yung ghost na si Mona lang ang nakakakita, makakatulong sa aming pamilya each time we have a problem.”

Janno is suggesting that their respective spouses, Bing and Aljon, appear as special guests in the show. We think this is a very good idea and GMA-7 should seriously consider doing it.

Going back to Mane, she did a show with ABS, “Got to Believe”, but now, she’s officially an exclusive Kapuso star. “I signed a three-year contract with them kasi dito naman talaga ako nag-start as a child actress in the original ‘Anna Liza’ and as a teenager, sa ‘That’s. Also, bukod sa ‘My BFF’, meron pa akong ‘Pepito Manaloto’ with them.”

As for Janno, he’s now also a songwriter for GMA’s teleseryes. He just wrote for them the theme song of the new drama series, “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real”. The song’s title is “Ako, Ikaw o Siya” and he has recorded it with Jaya.
