JC TIUSECO showed much promise after winning in the first “Survivor Philippines” of GMA-7 in 2008. Everyone says he is leading man material as he’s tall, goodlooking and hunky. But after six years in showbiz, his star has yet to soar. He has played nothing but supporting roles in shows like “Kung Aagawin Mo ang Lahat sa Akin” (where he met Maxene Magalona who became his girlfriend), “Full House”, “Langit sa Piling Mo”, “Kokak”, “Sisid”, “Daddy Dearest”, “Temptation of Wife”,”Teen Gen”, “Indio”, “Maghihintay Pa Rin”, “Borrowed Wife” and now, “The Half Sisters” where he plays Jomari Yllana’s best friend.
He himself feels that nothing much is happening to his career so we’re not surprised that he dropped Jonas Gaffud of Mercator as his manager and he’s now with Popoy Caritativo’s Luminary Talents that include Dennis Trillo, Tom Rodriguez and Janice de Belen.
“Nagpaalam naman ako ng maayos kay Jonas after my contract with him expired in November,” he says. “Kasi mas focused naman talaga siya ngayon in discovering and managing beauty queens. Akong lumapit kay Popoy, pero wala kaming written contract. Verbal agreement lang ang lahat. I just want some change.”
Some writers told him what he should change is his screen name as a reinvention, because no one using mere initials ever really hit it big in showbiz. Examples are JC Bonnin, JC de Vera, JC Castro, JM de Guzman, KC Concepcion, KC Montero etc. It’s never too late to change one’s screen name. Other stars whose career took a turn for the better when they changed their names are Abby Viduya as Priscilla Almeda, Anna Maceda as Rosanna Roces, Vince Saldana as Benjamin Alves, Anna Marie Falcon as Francine Prieto and Isabel Abiera as Max Collins.
