THE COUNTRY’S most durable legal drama, “Ipaglaban Mo”, is back on ABS-CBN starting this Saturday after “Showtime”. Based on Atty. Jose Sison’s Phil. Star column, “A Law Each Day”, it was first aired on IBC 13 then moved to ABS in 1992, where it was even turned into two full length films by Star Cinema in 1995 and 1997. It was aired for a while on GMA News TV but Atty. Sison and his son and co-host Jopet say they’re glad to be with ABS again.
At its launch, we saw the previews for the six new episodes that they’ve already taped and they’re all dramatic thunderbolts. The pilot episode, "Hindi Ko Sinasadya, Yaya," is directed by Manny Palo. A boy, RJ (Izzy Canillo), plays with his dad James Blanco’s gun and accidentally shoots dead his nanny (Shamaine Buencamino). Micmic (Michelle Vito), the yaya’s daughter, sought justice for her mother, but how can she win her legal battle if the accused was a minor and the crime was an accident? Also in the cast are Lara Quigaman and Dionne Monsanto.
The other episodes are: “Dalawang Ama” by Eric Quizon. Cris Villanueva’s mentally challenged daughter, Ella Cruz, is raped by Eric Fructuoso’s teenage son, John Manalo.
“Binawing Pangako” by Ricky Rivero. Matt Evans is supposed to marry Melissa Ricks but he didn’t show up in church on their wedding day. (One writer quips: “Ang taba-taba kasi ni Melissa”. And it’s so true.) Melissa and her dad, Boboy Garovillo, then sues Matt and his mom, Beverly Salviejo.
“Tinupad na Hula” by Erick Salud. Pokwang is having an affair with Dominic Ochoa, who’s married to Dimples Romana. When someone bombs the home of Dominic, Pokwang is arrested when it’s the fortune teller Odette Khan who’s the real culprit.
“Kailan Mo Ako Mapapatawad” by Lino Cayetano (whose wife, Fille Cainglet, just gave birth to their son, Ino.) Valerie Concepcion is a hard up single mom who is forced to be a drug courier for her son, Bugoy Carino. Co-starring Anna Capri as Valerie’s sister in law.
“Akin ang Anak Ko” by Rechie del Carmen. Jason Abalos is a soldier and his wife Helga Krapft is an OFW who leaves their child with her parents. Later on, his in laws no longer want to give back his child to Jason so he sues them.
“Ipaglaban Mo” is under business unit head Ruel Bayani. Don’t miss it this Saturday after “Showtime”. For updates, follow @ipaglabanmo2 on Twitter and like its FB page on facebook/ipaglaban moABS-CBN.
