ANGELU DE LEON met an accident while on her way to the taping of GMA-7’s hit inspirational drama, “Nino”, last Friday. The location was in Liliw, Laguna. At the town of Victoria, her van was hit by a truck. Her van was damaged but it’s good she and her son Rafa and two yayas were not hurt. Despite this, she decided to proceed to the location to prove that the show must go on. They have to go on with the taping or they wouldn’t have any new episodes to show this week since their work was badly affected by typhoon Glenda that wrought havoc in Laguna.
Angelu is thankful for her inclusion in “Nino” playing the role of Miguel Tanfelix’s adoptive mom, Leny. Her teamup with Neil Ryan Sese as husband David is getting great feedback as they really act like husband and wife. She’s also grateful that even priest like Fr. Eric Santos praise “Nino” in their homilies for fostering good family values.
“Nino” is helmed by Maryo de los Reyes. Are they worried that their ratings might be affected by ABS-CBN’s new show with Piolo Pascual that also topbills children? “Our advantage is that we’re now on our 8th week of telecast,” he says. “Marami nang loyal followers ang ‘Nino’ and I don’t think bibitaw sila sa panonood nito kahit may bago pang show na itapat sa amin. Hindi lang yung story ng mga bata ang sinusubaybayan dito kundi pati yung sa oldies, like ngayong nagkaroon ng love interest si Luz Valdez as Epang sa dati niyang boyfriend na si Manuel, played by Lito Legaspi. Sina Miguel naman as Nino and Bianca Umali as Gracie, napiling maging teen king and queen sa kanilang lugar na Barangay Pag-asa.”
