“It helped that naidirek ko na sila on TV in ‘Got to Believe’,” she says. “I won’t say na I’ve seen them grow pero sasabihin ko I saw the beginning of that growth and they can now take care of themselves. One thing with them is they’re both very professional sa work nila.”
So are the two really going steady now? “You know, I treat them like my own children but honestly, I’m clueless when it comes to what is the real score between them off cam. Obvious namang they care for each other, so ang suggestion ko, umamin na sila.”
Did she make a lot of changes in adapting “She’s Dating the Gangster” for the big screen? “May mga binago kami to adapt it kasi ang libro, mas for teens ang marketing niya. Gusto ko rin mapasok ang teens market pero mas pinalawak namin ang story para masama ang ibang members ng family. Binigyan namin ng back story yung major characters. Also, very careful kaming linawin na ang gangster here don’t refer to violent thugs kasi may responsibilidad tayo sa viewers.”
Was the original novelist, Bianca Bernardino, consulted about the changes? “Oh yes, they consulted me,” says Bianca. “And I like the changes they made. Siempre, magkaiba yung medium ng film sa novel, so I understand the revisions they made. Mas gumanda naman. Bagay rin sina Daniel at Katryn sa lead roles.”“She’s Dating The Gangster” opens in theaters on July 16.
