GELLI DE BELEN has Edu Manzano as co-host in “Face the People” starting today in its new timeslot, 10:15 AM on TV5. We ask her how she felt when she was informed that Edu will join her and Tintin Bersola in the show. “I got excited,” she says. “Kasi noong 14 years old ako, siya ang unang nakasama ko sa kanyang sariling show. Nagkasama na rin kami hosting variety shows like ‘Game and Go’, pero iba itong ‘Face the People’. I felt makakatulong talaga magkaroon ng male perspective dahil pareho kami ni Tintin na babae in our viewpoints. E, siya, he can really use diplomacy in dealing with our male guests. We have a ‘She said, He said’ kind of segment na ‘Sabi ni Edu, Sabi ni Gelli’. Abangan nyo, very interesting.”
Gelli is thankful that she can do both hosting and acting on TV5. She just finished the tawaserye “Confessions of a Torpe”. Both her career and lovelife continue to do well. Her marriage to Ariel Rivera is one of the most stable in showbiz. What’s their secret?
“We have constant communication, which is a big factor. We listen to each other, support each other’s careers kaya masasabi kong after all these years na our two sons are teenagers na, solid pa rin kami.”
Are their sons not into showbiz? “Hindi nila hilig. They’re more into sports sa school nila. Yung isa, sa baseball. And the other one, sa basketball, which is good. Pag-aaral muna ang asikasuhin nila bago sila mag-isip ng kung anu-ano.”
For the first telecast of “Face the People” today, don’t miss the controversial Maegan Aguilar and her aunt Marlene walking out of the show when writers who were guests in the show sided with and defended Freddie Aguilar. Find out what are the other complaints that Maegan voiced out against her dad in the show.
Today is the start of an exciting season for TV5 as it premieres new back-to-back Monday-to-Friday program offerings with the morning duo of “Face the People” at 10:15 a.m. and “Let’s Ask Pilipinas” at 11:15 a.m., and capping the evening with two exciting Koreanovelas, the fantasy romance “Bride of the Century” at 9:00 p.m. and the romcom “Cool Guys, Hot Ramen” at 9:30 p.m.
