Now, she plays Piolo Pascual’s leading lady no less in “Hawak Kamay”. It’ll be recalled that in their recent hit movie, “Starting Over Again”, she played second fiddle to Toni Gonzaga, but it was she who got Piolo in the end, not Toni. In “Hawak Kamay”, she also finds it challenging to be acting with top Kapamilya child stars Zaijian Jaranilla, Xyriel Manabat and Andrea Brillantes, all natural scene-stealers.
“Ang gagaling nila talaga lahat, kaya dapat lagi mong galingan kapag kaeksena mo sila para hindi ka nila maiwanan,” she says.
In “Maria Leonora Teresa”, she took over the role originally meant for Judy Ann Santos, who backed out because the movie is a horror flick and she doesn’t want to do a horror movie. “The movie is about dead children who come back to life as voodoo dolls,” says Iza. “Kasama ko rito si Jodi Santamaria and Zanjoe Marudo. Sa script pa lang nakakatakot na. I’ve done horror films before like ‘Sigaw’ which became ‘The Echo’ sa Hollywood, ‘Ouija’, ‘White Lady’ and ‘Sundo’ at enjoy ako gumawa ng mga pelikulang nananakot. In ‘Somebody to Love’, I’m with Jason Abalos and Carla Abellana, with Joey Reyes as our director. This will be shown on August 20. Sa ‘Mga Kuwentong Barbero naman, ako yung abused wife ng isang mayor at naging friend ko si Eugene Domingo na lady barber. Dito kami may kissing scene ni Uge.”
Iza is still on with her Aussie BF Ben Wintle but she says they have no plans yet of walking down the aisle. “I’m so busy with so many projects now at marami pa kong gustong gawin sa career ko at sa buhay ko, so settling down can definitely wait.”
