JODI SANTAMARIA and Richard Yap say their roles as Maya and Sir Chief in the long running daily feel-good soap, “Be Careful with My Heart” changed their lives for the better.
“Before, kontento na ako doing character and supporting roles,” says Jodi. “Okay na ko doon, but Maya opened a lot of doors for me. It got me a lot of endorsements, I was able to cut an album, perform in shows in other countries, and now, maga-Araneta pa kami. I’m so grateful to all connected with the show and the viewers who supported us. God has been so good to me to give me this blessing.”
“I never expect the show to be this successful,” says Sir Chief. “After doing ‘Binondo Girl’ and ‘Walang Hanggan’, I had second thoughts about continuing in showbiz. But this came and I’m glad I accepted it. Akala ko, one season lang, but now, two years na. Iniwan ko na ang job ko sa marketing dahil dito.”
Everywhere they go, they’re called as Maya and Sir Chief. “Pag nakikita ko ng mga tao, laging hinahanap sa’kin si Maya,” says Sir Chief, to which Jodi says: “Ganundin ako, akala nila kahit off cam, magkasama pa rin kami.”
The show’s entire cast will now stage a free thanksgiving concert at the Araneta Coliseum on July 25, Friday, 8 PM. Entitled “I Heart U 2: the Be Careful with my Heart 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving’, you can get your free tickets from ABS-CBN. Maya and Sir Chief will do duets and solo song numbers, along with the other cast members like Aiza Seguerra, Gloria Sevilla, Sylvia Sanchez, Lito Pimentel, Janella Salvador and their special guests: Erik Santos, Juris and Richard Poon.
The concert doesn’t mean that the show will soon end. Viewers support continues to be great and the ratings remain high, so expect Maya and Sir Chief to continue entertaining viewers every morning. It's really nice that their love team clicked even if everyone knows Sir Chief is happily married to wife Melody and Jodi is now in a relationship with Jolo Revilla.
