Ken Chan Launches Self Titled Debut Album As Polyeast Records Newest Male Recording Star

KEN CHAN was the special guest of Bea Binene when PolyEast launched her second album earlier this year. They were so sweet with each other then after Bea broke up with Jake Vargas and the rumor is they’re already on. But Bea suddenly reconciled with Jake and Ken was left hanging in the air. How did he feel about it?

“Okay lang kasi never namang naging officially kami ni Bea,” he says. “We’re friends at forever akong thankful na dahil sa kanya, nakapasok ako sa PolyEast. After I sang two songs in her album, kinuha na nila ako to launch my own album. Na-misinterpret lang ng ibang tao ang closeness namin kaya may mga nagsabing sumama ang loob ko kay Jake. Wala ako sa position to feel that dahil Jake is my good friend. Magkasama kami kay Kuya Germs sa ‘Walang Tulugan’.”

The title of his album is simply “Ken”. “We got him kasi wala kaming male artist aside from Martin Nievera,” says PolyEast exec Ethel Cachapero. “Most of them are women like Bea and Kyla. We know Ken will have a good future as a young singing idol.”

Born on January 17, 1994, Ken is the eldest of three boys. He was discovered by APT’s Rams David who brought him to Kuya Germs. GMA Artist Center signed him up and he was introduced in “Tween Hearts”. It’s as Mark Anthony Fernandez’ younger brother in “Rhodora X” where he got good reviews. “Guest lang ako roon but they liked me kaya humaba nang humaba ang role ko,” he says.

He has just shot his first movie, the Cinemalaya entry “1st Ko si 3rd” with Nova Villa, Freddie Webb and newcomer Coleen Borgonia. He is taking up Tourism at St. Benilde. In the last FAMAS Awards, he received the German Moreno Youth Achievement award. While waiting for his next soap, his focusing on promoting his album, which is mostly revivals.

You’ll like his own version of the '80s hit songs, "Nais Kong Malaman Mo" by the Boyfriends, Ogie Alcasid’s “Sumayaw Sumunod”, SugarFree’s “Tulog Na”, "Dahil Ikaw" by Truefaith and “Born for You”. The only original song is Kiko Salazar’s "Paikot-ikot." “I really want to thank PolyEast for giving me the chance to cut my first album and to do my own version of my favorite 80s hit songs,” he says. “Dream come true for me to have my own album.”

“Ken” is now in all record bars nationwide, also in digital format in iTunes and Spinnr.ph, sponsored by Unisilver Time, Skechers, Shimmian, Dong Juan Restaurant. You can follow Ken on FB/Twitter/Instagram via akosikenchan.
