REINFORCING its commitment to deliver Serbisyong Totoo, four-time George Foster Peabody winner GMA News and Public Affairs is all set to provide the public the most comprehensive coverage of President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III's fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) this Monday, July 28.
Anchored by multi-awarded GMA News pillars Mel Tiangco, Mike Enriquez, and Jessica Soho, GMA Network’s special coverage – which will both air on GMA-7 and GMA News TV -- will provide viewers the latest situations in and out of the Batasang Pambansa. Using state-of-the-art news-gathering equipment and nationwide transmission facilities, the special coverage will be powered by the full roster of formidable GMA News and Public Affairs team with live points set up in key areas in the metro.
Beginning at 3pm, GMA-7’s special live coverage titled “SONA 2014,” bannered by Mel Tiangco and Mike Enriquez, will broadcast live the President’s address with additional reports from and around Congress.
Led by four-time Reader's Digest Most Trusted News Presenter Jessica Soho, GMA News TV’s “SONA Ni PNoy” special coverage, on the other hand, commences at 2:30pm. Aside from airing the actual speech of the president, SONA Ni Pnoy will have a panel discussion with select resource speakers to analyze the address as well as the performance of the Aquino government.
In the evening, highlights of PNoy’s speech, reactions from representatives of different sectors of society, and situations in and out of the House of Representatives will be reported on GMA-7’s primetime newscast 24Oras and late-night news source Saksi.
GMA News TV’s flagship newscast State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, in turn, will feature exclusive reports and insights from experts, as well as representatives from different sectors of society.
In the week leading to the July 28 SONA, GMA News has aired special reports on “Pangako ni PNoy,” a series of progress reports on housing, employment, economy, gender and equality, transformational leadership and government. “Pangako ni PNoy” aired on GMA-7’s 24Oras, Unang Hirit, Saksi and on GMA News TV’s State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, News to Go, and Balitanghali.
Apart from this special report, State of the Nation with Jessica Soho also aired a series of special reports on its segment “Assignment Pilipinas,” which reviewed the country’s state of employment, peace and order particularly crime rate and resolved cases, disaster response and health issues.
