Mikael Daez Enjoying Playing A Gay Role In 'Ismol Family'

MIKAEL DAEZ didn’t have any second thoughts accepting the role of Ryan Agoncillo’s closet gay friend in “Ismol Family”. “They asked me, okay ba sa’yo ang beki role, sabi ko, just give me the back story and character description,” he says. “I treated it as a new challenge for me as an actor. I do comedy in ‘Bubble Gang’ but first time for me to be assigned in a sitcom. The fact that I was considered is an affirmation na may ginagawa pala akong tama sa pagko-comedy ko. I really want to thank GMA for their trust in me.”

What’s the feedback so far? “Maraming natutuwa. Ako na mismo nagtatanong kung okay ba ang ginagawa ko at very positive naman ang feedback. I’m happy to do a sitcom for the first time.”

Now, aside from his regular segment in ‘Saksi’, he has yet another show, “Ang Lihim ni Annasandra”, a telefantasya with Andrea Torres. “Aswang siya rito at ako naman, human na mai-in love sa kanya. Dahil dito, we have to give up ‘Bubble Gang’ kasi parehong Monday ang taping days namin. We’ll be taping kasi ‘Annasandra’ on location in Tanay kaya mahirap maglagari.”

“Annasandra” is touted to be a sexy show. Will he be ready to show off his body? “Okay lang. Go! But as an actor, you have to focus more on your craft. At the end of the day, mas importante ang acting na pinakikita mo sa tao. Kasi yung katawan mo, paminsan-minsan lang ’yon. Hindi ka naman laging nakahubad sa bawat eksena.”

This is the third show of Andrea with Mikael after “Sana ay Ikaw na Nga” and “With a Smile”. How come they were never romantically linked? Andrea answers: “Alam naman ng mga taong may girlfriend siya.”

She’s referring to Miss World Megan Young, who’s ‘ang babae sa dilim’ in Mikael’s love life since they don’t admit they’re on. And she, in turn, is being linked to Sef Cadayona. “It’s not true. Friends lang kami dahil magkasama kami sa ‘Bubble Gang’,” says Andrea.
