RICHARD GOMEZ is so busy these days. He’s now taping a new show as host of TV5’s “Quiet Please, Bawal ang Maingay”, a franchise from the hit Fremantle game show “The Noise”. He plays the older Daniel Padilla in “She’s Dating the Gangster”, he’s in the cast of the Cinemalaya entry “The Janitor” and is now also shooting “The Trial” for Star Cinema.
“Enjoy ako sa ‘Quiet Please’,” he says. “This is my third game show after ‘Family Feud’ with GMA and ‘Biggest Game Show’ also in TV5. K Brosas is my co-host. Sa first telecast on August 10, Sunday at 8 PM, the guests are my personal friends like Joey Marquez, Jomari Yllana and Antonio Aquitania. Then we’ll also have Derek Ramsay, Alice Dixson, Snooky Serna, Wendell Ramos, Jojo Alejar, Shalala at marami pang iba. It’s fun kasi they’re given tasks, but kailangan magawa nila without making a sound, kundi it’ll alarm the noise meter and minus sa kanila yun. They can win as much as P400,000 per game. In ‘The Janitor’, I play a police officer na boss ni Dennis Trillo. It’s Direk Michael Tuviera himself who called me, kung puede raw ako and I said oo naman, ikaw pa. May kakaibang twist sa role ko. In ‘The Trial’, I’m a lawyer, husband ni Gretchen Barretto. Son namin si Enrique Gil. We’re on the verge of breaking up when I defend John Lloyd Young, a mentally challenged man na patient ni Gretchen, a psychiatrist, who Jessy Mendiola accuses of raping her. Reunion namin ito ng Direk Chito Rono after ‘Dahas’, ‘Eskapo’ and ‘Babae sa Bintana’.”
His daughter Juliana is now a pretty teener. Will she join showbiz? “It’s up to her, but right now she’s more focused on her studies at Everest Academy at the Fort and she enjoys sports like fencing and volleyball. Lucy and I are thinking of trying to have another child again. 39 pa lang si Lucy, puede pa. We’ll seek medical advice to have a boy. Kasi without a son, end of the line na ng lahi namin as Gomez. When you’re young, so scared kang makabuntis. Nung nag-asawa na ako, ang hirap pala. Naisip ko nga, sana pala, hindi na lang ako nag-ingat noon.”
Doesn’t he have a child out of wedlock? “None. Nag-back track ako, wala talaga. Kung meron, I’ll accept kasi madali nang magpa-DNA test ngayon to make sure kung sa iyo nga. May friend ako, may batang lumapit sa kanya. Siya raw ang father. Sabi niya, walang problema. Ipina-DNA niya. Kanya nga. It’s that easy to verify.”
