“This is not my first Cinemalaya entry co-production,” he says. “I also did ‘Colorum’ and ‘Busong’. I also made the indie film ‘Supremo’ where I won as best actor for playing Andres Bonifacio. You get a different kind of fulfilment in doing indie films kaya nga I agreed to co-produce ‘Separados’ dahil nagandahan ako sa material ni Director GB Sampedro. Usually, mga babaeng hiwalay lang sa asawa ang ipinapakita sa movies. Dito naman, yung point of view ng mga lalaking separated from their wives.”
He plays the role of a husband with an unfaithful wife, Diana Zubiri. Before he faced the cameras anew, he had to lose weight. “Medyo tumaba ako when I wasn’t acting so nagpapayat muna ako. This movie came right after my mom just died, so I dedicate this film to her kasi she’s always very proud whenever she’d see me act.”
Alfred and his wife Yasmine were one of the best looking couples at the recent SONA of Pres. Pnoy. “Siempre, priority ko pa rin ang family ko and my constituents as congressman of QC’s District 5, but filmmaking will always be in my heart.”
“Separados” will have its gala screening tonight at 9PM at the CCP. The other separados are Victor Neri, Anjo Yllana, Ricky Davao, Jason Abalos and Erik Santos.
