MARIAN RIVERA celebrated her birthday live on her dance show, “Marian”, last Saturday night with Dingdong Dantes as special guest doing the last dance number of the show. And guess what happened in this show’s climax? Dingdong formally proposed marriage to her on the air, right in front of their fans and his own family who were there watching the show. He knelt in front of Marian, made his proposal, then got an engagement ring which he put on Marian’s finger.
It’s one of the grandest proposals in showbiz ever. Dingdong proudly declared: “Sa tagal ng pagsasama natin, may isang bagay na malinaw sa akin, that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I offer you this gift (he gets the ring from his pocket) on your birthday, something that’s beyond any material thing or tangible one, but I offer myself, my love today and all the days of my life. So please, Marian, will you be my wife?”
The audience and their fans inside the studio are now shrieking and screaming by this time. And yes, Marian, crying tears of joy, accepted the proposal, so they’re now officially engaged. But there are no definite wedding plans yet. Both of them are very busy at the moment with TV and movie commitments so the marriage will have to wait. Dingdong is still neckdeep with work taping “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real” and shooting his Metro filmfest entry, “Kubot, Aswang Chronicles 2”, while Marian is busy with her show and will soon start a movie with Derek Ramsay for Regal.
They can plan the wedding for next year. They’re both of the right age. Dong turned 34 on August 2 while Marian is turning 30 tomorrow, August 12. Our best wishes to the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Sixto Dantes. Here’s praying that, unlike most other showbiz couples, they will truly live happily ever after.
