IS THERE a rivalry between Miguel Tanfelix and his teen co-stars Julian Trono and Renz Valerio on the set of GMA-7’s hit primetime show, “Niño”? Julian grew up with Bianca in “Tropang Potchi” and had a lead role in “Anna Karenina”. Renz was also a lead in “Mga Basang Sisiw” and even won as the most popular child actor in the PEP Awards. But now, they’re both just playing support to Miguel in “Nino”.
“Wala pong rivalry sa amin,” says Miguel. “We all just support each other para sa ikagaganda ng show. We’re of the same age at magkakaibigan po kaming lahat.”
Don’t Julian and Renz somehow feel envious of Miguel?
“Hindi po, walang inggitan sa amin,” says Julian. “Lahat kami, nagsimula as child actor at lahat naman kami, nabibigyan ng chance to do lead roles. Time naman ni Miguel ngayon.”
“Sinuportahan din naman ako ni Miguel noon sa ‘Basang Sisiw’,” says Renz. “Kaya time ko naman sumuporta sa kanya ngayon. Isa pa, maganda ang role ko sa ‘Nino’ as his elder brother na neglected ng ina naming si Katrina Halili as Hannah na mas mahal ang nawawalang si Miguel.”
This week, the story centers on forgiveness. Angelu de Leon as Lenny cannot forgive Dante Rivero as Don Pedro for killing her parents and this affects her friendship with Katrina Halili and also Miguel. Bianca Umali as Grace has in turn dreamt about the return of her missing dad, played by Jestoni Alarcon who will be added to the cast of “Nino”.
