KATRINA HALILI admits she felt so sad when they were told that “Nino” is ending on September 12. “Nabigla kaming lahat sa cast,” she says. “It’s unexpected kasi ang saya-saya nga namin dahil ang taas ng rating namin, so we thought aabutin pa kami ng hanggang December, just like ‘Munting Heredera’ noon na inabot ng nine months.”
When we last talked to Katrina, she refused to talk about her relationship with the dad of her daughter, Kris Lawrence. “She just keeps on saying huwag na lang.” But now, she finally reveals that she and Kris are just friends, no longer lovers. “I’m not closing my doors naman. Kung siya ba talaga, e di siya. Kung hindi, di hindi. But as of now, we’re better off as friends.”
Her contract with GMA-7 ends this January. She doesn’t know yet if it would be renewed. “Nasa sa kanila yun, but I’m very happy na sa 10 years ko sa GMA, marami talaga silang naitulong sa akin. May negosyo na kong resort ngayon sa El Nido in Palawan. May sarili akong bahay. At very happy ako rito sa ‘Nino’ kasi hindi kontrabida ang role ko at mabait as the real mother of Miguel Tanfelix as Nino. Abangan nyo yung eksena namin this week na I will discover that Miguel is my missing son at kukunin ko na siya sa mga kinagisnan niyang magulang, sina Angelu de Leon at Neil Ryan Sese. Tiyak, maiiyak kayo kasi very touching ang eksena.”
