Ogie Alcasid Now Talent Manager Of Lara Maigue, Aldrich Talonding & Q-York

OGIE ALCASID now has his own talent management agency called The A Team. His first three talents are singers he recruited from the Philpop contest: Lara Maigue, Aldrich Talonding and Q York. Lara is the singer-songwriter who composed “Sa’Yo na Lang Ako” in 2013 and wrote the two theme songs of the movie “Separados”. Aldrich is the Youtube sensation who appeared in Ellen Degeneres show. Q-York interpreted the song “Qrush on You” in Philpop 2014.

Ogie is turning 47 on August 27 and he celebrates this with a concert and party at the Music Museum on Thursday, August 28, “Throwback Thursday with Ogie A.” He’ll trace his career as a singer that started in January of 1988 with his first TV appearance in the show of Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez. “I will sing the song I liked so much when I heard it Martin sang it there, ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ by Rick Astley,” he says. “Pati mga damit na isusuot ko, 80s style din.”

His guests will be mostly surprise ones. “I invited a lot of friends to jam with me, like sina Janno Gibbs and Manilyn Reynes na mga kasabayan ko noong late 80s. Jojo Alejar is also coming. We’ll be singing songs of Culture Club, Naked Eyes, Duran Duran, David Pomeranz, the Bagets era and, of course, my own songs. We’ll also pay tribute to the late Francis M, with no less than Mr. C (Ryan Cayabyab) as musical director.”

Ogie is so proud of his son Nate. “At 2, marunong ng magbasa. Pag sakay namin sa kotse, he’ll say, Mommy, sing. Meaning, we’ll put on Regine’s CD. Pag sinabi kong Daddy naman, he’d say, Hindi na, Mommy lang. E, I got sick for three days. Hindi ako umaalis ng bahay, nag-bonding kami. Pag sakay namin ng car, sabi, Daddy na, sing. Ang tawag sa’kin, Boss, kasi naririnig sa maids. Kung minsan naman, Honey, ginagaya Mommy niya. Big fan siya ni Marian Rivera. Girlfriend daw niya. Kapag ayaw kumain, we’ll tell him, sige, hindi ka na iki-kiss ni Tita Marian. So kakain na siya.”

Ogie is pleased that his two regular shows on TV5, “Tropa Mo Ko” and “Let’s Ask Pilipinas” are both doing well. “‘Tropa’ is now called ‘Tropa Mo Ko, Nice Di Ba?’. May character kasi ako roong pamhinta, in denial na bading siya kaya pa-mhin. Lagi kong sinasabi yung ‘Nice, Di Ba?’ E, pinickup ng mga bata. Laging sinasabi yung ‘Nice, Di Ba?’ kaya yun na ang ginawa naming title. Nag-click ang spoof namin ng ‘Dalawang Mrs. Real’ with GMA’s ‘Dalawa’t Kalahating Mrs. Real’ kasama si Mahal. So now, we’ll spoof naman ABS-CBN’s ‘Ikaw Lamang’, na ang theme song, galing sa’kin. Gagawin naming ‘Ihaw Lamang’. ‘Let’s Ask Pilipinas’ naman, ang dami na ng commercials. The audience is growing and we’re glad dahil marami siyang natutulungang needy people.”

Proceeds from Ogie’s concert will go to the travelling OPM exhibit called “My OPM Playlist”, an exhibition of OPM songs from selected and influential Filipinos from various sectors to project OPM as a national brand. Get your tickets from TicketWorld at 891-9999. Ogie will also participate at the Pinoy Music Festival concert on September 5 at the Ayala Triangle Gardens where top OPM artists will perform.
