Sultry Fil-German Singer-Songwriter Lana Roi Launches Debut Album, 'Inner Base'

LANA ROI is a Fil-German singer-songwriter who was born in Vancouver, Canada, where she won the Miss Global Teen Canada title. An only child, her real name is Theresa Marie Fenger. She first came to Manila in 2009. Standing 5’8”, she joined the Bb. Pilipinas pageant as representative of Davao, where her mom comes from, but withdrew two weeks before the finals night. She became a member of Viva’s girl group, Eurasia. They had an album and their group went on tour.

She’s now going solo and her first album, “Inner Base”, is released by PolyEast Records. Most of the songs are written by her, a combination of pop ballads and upbeat numbers for dancing. As a composer, she says she first thinks of the melody then the lyrics come later. Then she takes her songs to an arranger to finalize it. Alicia Keys is her favorite singer-songwriter.

“My songs are like my own diary and I’m sharing my thoughts, my life, myself with everyone,” says Lana who speaks Tagalog quite fluently.

“Inner Base” has ten songs with the catchy and inspirational “It’s Time” as the first single. The other potential hits are the ballads “You’re All I Need” and “This is Your Song”. The other cuts are “Free”, “Love It Boy”, “Hands Up”, “MinaMina”, “Special Love”, “Body Pop” and the title track, “Hands Up”.
