Will The James Reid-Nadine Lustre Love Team Be As Successful As Kathniel?

JAMES REID comes full circle from ABS-CBN, where he won in PBB Teens in 2010, then to Viva Artists Agency which now manages and successfully launched him to stardom in “Diary ng Panget”, and now back to ABS-CBN where he just signed up a new two-year contract along with ka-love team Nadine Lustre. For a while, they even appeared on GMA-7’s “Sunday All Stars” and Mark Herras was quoted complaining about it.

But it looks like the JaDine love team is really destined to be with ABS. They will be given their own teleserye, just like Sarah Geronimo and Anne Curtis who do shows with ABS but are actually under Viva management. Will the JaDine love team be as popular as the Daniel Padilla-Kathryn Bernardo love team? That remains to be seen.

We just saw the second movie of the JaDine love team, “Talk Back and You’re Dead” and it pales in comparison to “Diary ng Panget”, which was somewhat more sensible. There are many scenes that don’t seem to make any sense and sometimes, what transpires onscreen defies logic and is barely comprehensible. We also cannot believe that kidnapping someone is something so common in the movie. The enemies of James first kidnap Yassi Pressman, thinking she’s Nadine. Yassi is rescued then the bad guys kidnap Nadine herself.

In his first encounter with the thugs headed by a fat guy, James, who’s to be a martial arts expert, was badly beaten up. In their next encounter, James has more opponents but he magically routed them all easily. At one point, we can no longer take what’s going on and we had to leave before totally losing our patience. This is also what happened when we watched “She’s Dating the Gangster”. We walked out mid-way through the movie. But these are big hits. So who are we to argue. Maybe the fault is in us. We’re no longer in tune with these kind of mindless movies. What do you think?

Another thing we can’t understand is that why ABS-CBN didn’t nurture and build up James while he was still with them for three years. It took Viva to see and mine his potential. And now they get him back when it’s very obvious even then that he’s got star quality and the looks of a matinee idol most local fans will drool on.
