RUFFA GUTIERREZ is asked what viewers can expect from her at the second season of “It Takes Gutz to be a Gutierrez”, subtitled “Relationships”, on E Channel that starts on October 5. “Well, after three years, I think I’m ready to fall in love again,” she replies.
Her mom Annabelle Rama quickly reacts. “Anong three years? Di ba kelan lang yung huling boyfriend mo?”
Ruffa answers: “Ikaw naman kasi, may makita ka lang nagbibigay sa’kin ng flowers and chocolates, boyfriend na agad sa’yo. Suitors lang yun.”
“Naku, everytime I see Ruffa, she has a new boyfriend!” her mom reveals.
“Basta, I’ve been single for three years and I’m hoping this person comes into my life this year.”
“Baka si Yilmaz na naman yan,” her irrepressible mom says.
“No, hindi siya. I’ve become so picky nga. Ang tagal ko nang walang boyfriend. But all girls need an inspiration, a ka-textmate or chatmate. Gusto ko namang may makasama ako sa buhay who’ll be with me in my ups and downs, whether my mom likes it or not. Kaya kung meron diyang lalaki na gustong manligaw, kahit hindi masyadong matangkad, huwag kayong matakot.”
“Naku, ako, kung gusto ko ang lalaki, ako mismo ang hahabol,” says Annabelle. “Tamong daddy mo, akong humabol diyan nung magpunta siya sa Cebu.”
“Yes, dinala niya ako agad sa isang resort,” Eddie Gutierrez agrees. “Pero wala pang nangyari noon.”
“E, virgin pa ako noon, no?” says Annabelle. “E, ngayon, we’ve been together for 41 years. Nag-live in muna kami. Dalawa na anak namin ng magpakasal kami.”
The new season of “It Takes Gutz” was launched at R-Space in Bel Air, Makati. NBC VP for Asia Pacific Scott Mackenzie opened the affair by paying tribute to the Gutierrez family. “We didn’t expect that their show’s first season will be the number one in its slot not only in the Philippines but other Asian countries. They’ve become very popular with viewers in the Asian region who want to see more of the Gutierrez family so we are happy to give them the new season which runs for 10 episodes, unlike the first one that only had 6 episodes.”
The new season also has a new director, an Aussie from Melbourne who helmed “Australia Got Talent” and “Big Brother Australia”, Karen Wiggins. The past director, Mike Carandang, got busy with other projects. “It’s going to be bigger and bolder than the first one,” says Karen. “It’ll answer a lot of questions that were left unanswered in the past season.”
Annabelle herself is now the producer with her own production team. “Na-stress ako kasi ako rin ang catering, make up artist, production assistant, lahat na. But it’s worth it. Abangan nyo, kasama rito ang anak kong si Elvis and his partner of nine years, Alexa Uichico, na anytime now, manganganak na with their first baby. May baby sa first season, may baby rin dito ngayon so abangan nyo sa October 5.”
