BETTINA CARLOS was grilled about her relationship with Raymart Santiago at the launch of Indomie, a new brand of instant noodles made by Indofood, the largest noodle factory in Indonesia. Indomie was launched in 1972 and is already a top seller in so many countries, but it’s only now that it’s being introduced in our country by Roshan Mirani of Mirage Manufacturing. They chose Bettina and her daughter Gammy as their endorser, along with Dino Guevarra and his son Joaquin.
Bettina was asked during the Q&A what the real score about her and Raymart Santiago? “No, we’re not in a relationship,” she says. “Hindi ko alam kung bakit kami nali-link. Nagkasama kami sa ‘Villa Quintana’ and we became friends. Pero never naging kami.”
It’s said that their photos were posted in social media and she was even with her daughter at the home of Raymart, so some wags quickly concluded that they’re already living in.
“He invited us for dinner. Hindi lang ako kundi pati mga kasama namin sa show, pati production staff. He cooks and I also cook kasi I took up culinary arts. Potluck dinner yun so nagluto ako, nagluto rin siya. Pero hindi ako nakatira roon. Dala-dalawa ang bahay ko, bakit ako titira roon?”
Right now, she’s also busy with two shows. “I’m co-hosting ‘Idol sa Kusina’ with Chef Boy Logro and I’m the provincial host of what will be the biggest talent show in the country, ‘Bet ng Bayan’, hosted by Regine Velasquez and Alden Richards. I do the hosting sa Mindanao and Visayas.”
Why was Bettina chosen as endorser of Indomie? “We want someone active in social media and Bettina is very active in her accounts,” says Mr. Mirani. “We also want a mom and someone who’s very articulate. Bettina fits all that, so we got her and her daughter after we learned that they really like our instant noodles.”
“Masarap kasi talaga ang mi goreng stir fry noodles nila that come in various flavours like barbecue chicken, rending, pedas and satay,” says Bettina. “Pinoys working abroad are already familiar with Indomie kasi imported nga ito and I’m glad it’s now also available locally.”
