DEREK RAMSAY didn’t evade the current controversy involving him at the presscon of TV5’s “Amazing Race Philippines, Season 2” that starts airing on October 6, 7:30 PM, aired Monday to Sunday with 11 pairs competing.
“I just want to thank the people who continue to believe in me and support me,” he says. “May mga naninira pero mas maraming nagmamahal. That’s what’s more important for me.”
He said he was not required to be personally present at the court hearing. “But I found out my son would be there. That's the only reason why I went. I learned nandun ang anak ko. I think the fiscal at pati siya (Jolly) were shocked when they saw I was there. When all this started, the fiscal told us not to talk to media and I did not. At the same time, nirerespeto ko ang anak ko kaya hindi ako nagsasalita. Just like in the past, kapag babae ang kalaban hindi talaga ako nagsasalita. But nagpa-presscon sila, nag-release ng affidavit against me online. My son's letter was shown online and she handed out the letter to everybody at the presscon. It's just hard to believe that my son read everything online over night and quickly wrote a letter against me. I asked to talk to him and I was given two minutes, that's all she granted me, two minutes to be with my son at the fiscal’s office. After two minutes she was knocking on the door, as if sisiraan ko siya sa anak ko.”
The letter says Austin hates him. “I don't believe that he wrote that because the last time we saw each other, he called me dad and he said our last time together was the best day of his life. I asked my son if siya ba talaga ang nagsulat and if really meant it. When he said yes, I kept my mouth shut for the rest of the meeting.”
Does he feel that his son was brainwashed against him? “I don’t want to say anything bad about his mom. I just asked my lawyers, Ano ba magagawa natin para maayos na 'to? Wala akong pakialam linisin ang pangalan ko, wala akong pakialam sa career ko. I just want to spend time with my boy. When I confirmed through DNA test in 2011 that he was really my son, I was very cooperative.
Immediately we sat down and discussed what's best for my son, and we did, we had a contract. They were the ones who drafted the contract, they're even the ones who notarized the contract, and everything I thought was smooth sailing from there. But here we are after three years. The contract we agreed upon in 2011 was not followed and I only saw my son four times in three years time. I want to have the right to be a father, I want to have the right to see my son, I definitely want to give him good education coz that's the best way to give back: secure his future with good education. That's what my parents did to me, they sent me to the best school that they can afford. I want to give him the best education, a trust fund.”
He’s willing to smoke the peace pipe with Jolly. “I really do, for the sake of my son. It doesn't mean I'll be plastic. I'm just be doing what she requests, but the problem is her requests keep on changing.”
Any message for his son? "You'll understand what's really going on when you grow up. All I’m asking you is just please don't close your doors on me because I care for you.”
What can he say that his past GFs (Solenn, Angelica and Cristine) were dragged by Jolly into the case. “I don’t know why she did that. For what reason? She even said I drugged her with ecstasy to have sex with her and I’m demanding to have anal sex with her.”
Still and all, Derek is hoping that everything about child support, visitation rights, the boy’s citizenship and the annulment of their marriage, will be settled satisfactorily soon.
