ISABELLE DE LEON (formerly Isabella) started as a child star in GMA’s “Munting Anghel” in 2000 when she was six years old. Then she was quickly cast as one of Vic Sotto’s daughter’s in the sitcom “Daddy Di Do Du”, which ran until 2007. She also did other shows like “Mulawin”, “Mga Mata ni Angelita” and “Fantastikids”, and movies like “Bahay ni Lola”, Santa Santita”, “Bahay Kubo”, and “Magnifico” as Jiro Manio’s sister who’s stricken with cerebral palsy. She won so many best child actress awards.
As a teenager, she moved to ABS-CBN and appeared in soaps like “Nasaan Ka, Elisa” and “Maria Mercedes”, where she did supporting roles. A good singer who writes her own songs, she also launched her own solo album, “Love Zone”, under PolyEast Records. She’s now with TV5, who’s introducing her with Katrina Velarde and Lara Maigue, as the three new sisters of their show “Trenderas”, about three tinderas who sing well and go trending in youtube.
While not busy during her awkward stage from childhood to adolescence, Isabella finished high school, took up voice lessons with Kitchie Molina and learned how to play various music instruments, notably, the guitar, so she can accompany herself while singing.
“I’m so happy to be in ‘Trenderas’ kasi I’m one of the three leads na all showbiz hopefuls,” she says. “Ang feeling ko, parang I’m starting all over again. But I’m confident that God has a plan for me, basta I’ll keep on giving my best in every project assigned to me.”
Her character in “Trenderas” is also named Isabelle. She grew up under the care of Rez Cortez who plays a gay character, Mother Pearl. But the truth is she’s the daughter of Tina Paner and Dingdong Avanzado who was stolen when she was a baby. She grows up to be a tindera sa palengke, along with Katrina and Lara. Later on, she’ll figure in a love triangle with Lara over Carl Guevarra. Also in the show are comedians K Brosas, Kitkat and Kakai Bautista, with the special participation of Nora Aunor as Celestina Cruz, a big singer-actress who’ll be the mentor to the Trenderas. This will start airing this Saturday with a one-hour pilot at 9 PM.
