Jasmine Curtis Smith On Working With Nora Aunor In 'Dementia'

AFTER WINNING the Cinemalaya best supporting actress award for her first movie last year, “Transit”, Jasmine Curtis Smith is sure to get more praises for her portrayal of Nora Aunor’s understanding niece in the horror-drama, “Dementia”.

“Hindi siya nagpaiwan kay Ate Guy,” says the film’s director, Perci Intalan, who’s so happy because the film got a grade A no less from the Cinema Evaluation Board. “She delivered in all her scenes at hindi siya mukhang baguhan.”

Jasmine herself says she was so nervous during the shoot. “I was very intimidated kasi everyone knows Ate Guy’s status in the industry as the Superstars,” she says. In fairness to Ate Guy, she’s very supportive and encouraging. Huwag ka matakot’ kasi I had to shout at her.”

The story of “Dementia” was derived by Direk Perci from his own family.

My mom is now 87 years old pero na-diagnose siya na may dementia when she was 80 years old pa lamang siya. So siya ang inspiration ko sa role ni Ate Guy in ‘Dementia’.”
