JM De Guzman Says His Stint With Rehab Has Made Him A Better Man & Now Makes A Comeback In 'Hawak Kamay'

WE’RE GLAD ABS-CBN is giving JM de Guzman a second chance. JM confessed that he became a drug addict and became delinquent with his work while doing Book 2 of “Angelito, Batang Ama”, which was why the show’s run was quickly cut shot. He then went into rehab to reform himself.

“Ipinasok po ako sa rehab dahil unmanageable na ako,” he confessed on national TV. “Gumamit po ako ng droga. Sinubukan ko 'yung hindi dapat subukan. Naging iresponsable po ako. Nawala po 'yung disiplina ko. Lumaki po yung ulo ko. I lost control. Hindi na ako makapag-isip ng diretso. Hindi ko na mapagkatiwalaan 'yung mga sarili kong desisyon.”

He denied his ex-GF Jessy Mendiola is the reason why he went into drugs. “Sa bisyo ko, sa mga ginawa ko sa sarili ko, wala pong kinalaman si Jessy doon. Decision ko 'yun, choices ko 'yun, and naging rason 'yun kung bakit kami naghiwalay. Isa po 'yun sa maraming rason.”

He was into rehab for almost a year and it helped him to look back and examine his life. He’s now ready for a comeback and ABS-CBN got him to be one of the new cast members meant to beef up their primetime soap, “Hawak Kamay”. He will play the long lost half brother of Piolo Pascual. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa ABS-CBN sa pagbibigay sa akin ng ikalawang pagkakataon,” he says. “Not everyone is given a second chance and I’m really grateful sa muli nilang pagtitiwala sa akin.”

Also added into the cast of “Hawak Kamay” are Tirso Cruz III as the father of Piolo and JM, and “The Voice Kids” winner Lyca Gairanod.
