JUDY ANN SANTOS turned down doing Wenn Deramas’ “Maria Leonora Theresa”, a horror film about dolls that come to life, allegedly because she finds doing scary movies very tiring, like when she did “Ouija” for GMA Films in 2007 and “Mag-ingat Ka sa Kulam” for Regal Entertainment in 2008. She was replaced by Iza Calzado in the flick, which is now slated to be shown on September 17 with Jodi Sta. Maria and Zanjoe Marudo in the cast.
But Juday has now accepted the horror flick “T’yanak”, directed by Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes, now shooting at a resort in Montalban, Rizal. “T’yanak” is not a remake of a previous movie of Peque with almost the same title, “Tiyanak”, which starred Janice de Belen. It has a different story. Juday’s co-stars are Solenn Heussaff, Tom Rodriguez and Sid Lucero. To think she’s also currently busy taping for “I Do”, her new realiserye shown on Saturdays and Sundays on ABS-CBN. Does this mean she accepted this project because she prefers working with Peque and Lore than with Wenn?
“T’yanak” is part of the Film Development Commission of the Philippines’ Horror Film Festival that will be shown exclusively at SM Malls as Halloween presentation starting October 29. Another entry here is “Hukluban: Gabi Kung Sumikat ang Araw” by Gil Portes. This will be the first starring role of the controversial Krista Miller, previously linked to Cesar Montano and then a crime lord, with Kiko Matos as leading man.
