OUR CONDOLENCES to the Eigenmann family for the passing of Mark Gil (real name: Ralph Eigenmann), the second child of actors Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil, with Michael de Mesa as the first born and Cherie Gil as the youngest, due to cirrhosis of the liver. He passed last Sunday morning. He would have been 53 on September 25. He won the Urian Award twice, for best supporting actor in “Palipat-Lipat, Papalit-Palit” in 1982, and, 25 years later, for best actor in “Rotonda” in 2007. He was better known for character and contravida roles but he played the leading man of Vilma Santos in “Miss X” in 1979. Other movies where he played the lead role are “Batch 81”, “Karibal Ko ang Aking Ina”, “Company of Women” and “Naiibang Hayop”. He has one of the best PR’s among our stars. He’s very friendly with the press, just like his siblings Michael and Cherie. His own son Gabby took after him. He had two kids with Irene Celebre, another two with Bing Pimentel (to whom he was married), one with Jaclyn Jose and one with his wife now, Maricar. His other kids who are also into acting are Sid Lucero (real name is Timothy), Andi Eigenmann and Maxine Eigenmann.
