Nora Aunor On How It Feels To Be Tagged As The New Queen Of Indie Films

NORA AUNOR is being tagged as the New Indie Queen. She was just seen in “Hustisya” where she won Cinemalaya best actress awards and also in “Barber’s Tales” where she played a rebel leader. She’ll next be seen in “Dementia”, the well praised directorial debut of Perci Intalan that opens in theatres today. After that, she’ll be seen in two more indie films, “Padre de Pamilya” with Coco Martin and “Whistleblower” with Cherry Pie Picache (our condolences and prayers for the tragic death of Pie’s mom and we’re praying the culprits will be apprehended and punished.)

“Wala namang problema kung tawagin man nila akong ganun,” she says. “Basta ang importante, magaganda naman ’yung mga ginagawa mo, like ‘Hustisya’ and ‘Dementia’ na pareho nang accepted for showing in film festivals abroad.”

Doesn’t she miss doing mainstram films?

She admits her talent fee is not as big as when she’s doing a mainstream film. “Pero okay lang yun. Basta gusto ko ’yung script, gusto ko ’yung istorya, maski nga walang bayad, eh, gagawin ko basta gusto ko. Tulad nitong ‘Dementia’. When I read the script, nagustuhan ko agad. Ibang klase siyang horror movie. Matatakot talaga ang viewers.”

“Dementia” opens in theatres today.
