Writers interviewing Rayver at the pocket presscon of Regal’s special Halloween presentation, “Dilim”, all agree that he’s perfect leading man material. He’s tall, good looking, has a good physique and he can act well as proven by the best actor award he won for Cinema One’s “Saturday Night Chills”. “Hindi ka ba naiinip na you’re often overlooked by ABS-CBN?” asks one writer.
“Ayokong mainip,” he says. “Basta I continue to trust them na may plano sila for me. Hindi naman ako nagmamadali.”
He’s glad Star Magic allowed him to do “Dilim” for Regal that pairs him for the first time with a Kapuso actress, Kylie Padilla. He seems very caring and concerned about Kylie’s welfare. On the set of “Dilim”, he’d get an umbrella to protect Kylie from the rain when they’re shooting exterior scenes. He makes sure she is comfortable and eats on time during shooting breaks. “Malapit nang maging sila, kitang-kita sa action nila,” say people involved in the production.
We ask Rayver if this were true? “Ang pinakikita ko kay Kylie is something na dapat lang ipakita ng sinumang leading man sa kapareha niya,” he says. “First time namin to work together, kaya inaasikaso ko naman siya. We’re rushing the shooting of the movie kasi may playdate na ito on October 22 as Regal Entertainment’s Halloween presentation.”
What’s his role in the story? “Working student ako. Si Kylie, nursing student naman na galing probinsiya. May mga nagmumulto sa dorm nila sa university belt. Tutulungan ko siya to solve the mystery kung bakit may mga nagmumulto.”
So how is it working with her? “Okay. Masaya kami sa set. She’s a kid at heart kaya kulitan kami. Madali kaming naging close sa isa’t isa. Mabait siya at mahusay na artista. Mana sa father niya.”
Does he find her pretty? “Naku, given na yun. Obvious naman. Hindi lang pretty, also sexy.”
So will he seriously court her? “Let’s see. Huwag nyo kaming i-pressure. Bago pa lang kami magkakilala. Ayoko namang sabihin ng mga tao na gimik lang ito to promote our movie ‘Dilim’.”
