ROCCO NACINO feels so blessed these days. He has a new movie coming up, “Ibong Adarna”, where he plays the adventurous Prinsipe Sigasig who embarks on a perilous journey to catch the elusive bird whose song will heal his ailing father, Joel Torre. This is not an indie movie with a small budget, as some people think, but a big-budgeted costume flick that use expensive special effects for its fantasy sequences.
On TV, he now stars with Dennis Trillo, Kris Bernal and Lauren Young in GMA-7’s coming new primetime drama, “Hiram na Alaala”. Rocco has really come a long way since he became Second Prince ins Starstruck 5. He’s now busier than winner Steven Silva and First Prince Enzo Pineda. It helps that GMA gave him one project right after the after, starting with “Gumapang Ka sa Lusak”, playing our national hero in “Rizal, Dakilang Manunulat”, “Koreana”, “Yesterday’s Bride”, “Akin Pa rin ang Bukas” and “Bayan Ko” for which he won in the Gawad Duyan Awards the Natatanging Likha para sa Dulang Pantelebisyon – Hiblang Huwaran award. In the movies, he won New Movie Actor of the Year award sa 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies and Best Breakthrough Performance by an Actor award sa 9th Golden Screen Awards for the movie “Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa”. Last year, he did “Burgos” with Lorna Tolentino and this year, “Hustisya” with Nora Aunor.
In his latest soap, “Hiram na Alaala”, Rocco plays a brave soldier who’s engaged to Kris Bernal. But he was captured by the rebels and held captive in the mountains. His best friend, Dennis Roldan, for some strange reason, inherits his private memories and becomes closer to Kris while he’s away. How this happens is what is fully explained in “Hiram na Alaala” that starts airing on September 22, replacing “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real”. And with him being so busy, he really has no time to accompany GF Lovi Poe when she takes a vacation after the run of "Dalawang Mrs. Real".
