Tom Rodriguez Never Thought When He Was In The U.S.A. That He'd Be An Actor, Singer & Game Show Host Someday

TOM RODRIGUEZ doesn’t care if the new game show “Don’t Lose the Money” was first offered to Richard Gomez, who chose to do TV5’s “Quiet Please, Bawal ang Maingay” instead. “The important thing is that a new opportunity was given to me to do hosting for the first time,”he says. “You know, I’m really so blessed kasi when I first came to Manila to join PBB, I didn’t know I could act. But nakuha nga akong artista. I didn’t know I could sing, but pinakanta ako and I even did a Broadway musical, ‘Aladdin’. Then Dennis Trillo and I did an album for the soundtrack of ‘My Husband’s Lover’ and it even became platinum. Now, heto, hosting naman. If you told me when I was in the U.S. na magiging artista, singer at game show host ako, I wouldn’t believe it. And yet here I am now doing all those things.”

We heard that GMA management is happy with the way he hosts “Don’t Lose the Money” that was why he was chosen over their other actors who auditioned, like Rafael Rosell and Rocco Nacino. “Napakasimpatiko niyang host at may rapport siya agad with all the contestants,” they say.

It’s said he’s being groomed to be the counterpart of ABS-CBN’s Luis Manzano as an actor-host. What can he say about this? “That’s a tall order. He’s much more experienced than me. But I promised to do my best para mahasa ako sa hosting at hindi ako mapahiya sa GMA for their trust in me.”

“Don’t Lose the Money” started airing last Monday just before “The Ryzza Mae Show” and quickly gained a lot of followers. Tom is now being seen day and night on TV as he’s also in the primetime soap “My Destiny”, where he played the son of Dennis Roldan, whose character has since been killed since he’s now in prison for kidnapping. How did he feel about this?

“He was very good and helpful to me so balak ko talagang dalawin siya one of these days, basta nakaluwag-luwag na ako sa schedule kasi, aside from taping for my two regular shows, may movies pa akong ginagawa, ‘T’yanak’ with Judy Ann Santos and Solenn Heussaff, at yung ‘Beauty in a Bottle’ with Angelica Panganiban.”
