ASSUNTA DE ROSSI doesn’t mind being the second choice in the role of Vilma in “Beauty in a Bottle” since it was first offered to Ruffa Gutierrez. “Hindi siya puede kasi endorser siya ng isang beauty product, e the movie is a spoof on beauty products,” she says. “Okay lang naman sa’king ako ang pumalit sa kanya kasi manager ko naman ang nanay niya (Annabelle Rama.)”
She was only 19 years old when she won her first best actress award for the movie “Hubog” by Joel Lamangan in 2001. She was still getting plum roles when she suddenly married Cong. Jules Ledesma and showbiz took a backseat for her. She’d still do TV soaps every now and then, even playing mother roles, but now, she’s glad to play one of the leads in “Beauty in a Bottle”.
”When the movie was offered to me, balak ko na to get pregnant. My husband says I’m too skinny so I was planning to gain weight in preparation for pregnancy. Talagang parang kain kargador kung kumain ako, pero biglang, gusto mo gumawa ng movie. I read the script, ang ganda, o di sige, movie muna. Postponed uli ang pagbe-baby. My last movie was a Cinemalaya indie film, ‘Baybayin’, three years ago pa.”
How come she hasn’t gotten preggy when they’ve been married for ten years? “We don’t know. Pareho naman kaming okay, sabi ng doctor. Siguro, ayaw pa ni Lord. I don’t want naman to resort to anything artificial. Gusto ko, to get preggy pa rin the natural way. Nagsayaw na nga kami sa Obando para magbuntis ako, so after ‘Beauty in a Bottle’, sana maging preggy na ako.”
