Coco Martin Celebrates His 10th Year In Showbiz And Birthday With A Bang

COCO MARTIN celebrated his 10th year in showbiz by treating the press to a thanksgiving party at Cities Events Place. This is also to celebrate his birthday on November 1st. Of all the stars of ABS-CBN who really hit it big, it’s only Coco who has done this so far for the press. “It’s not just for the press but for all the people who helped my in my career since I started,” he tells us.

We remember first meeting Coco at the garden of Director Dante Mendoza’s home in Mandaluyong for the preview of his movie, “Masahista”, which won best picture at the Locarno Filmfest in Switzerland in 2004.

His real name is Rodel Nacianceno and he was very quiet then. He made other films with Mendoza like “Kaleldo”, “Foster Child”, “Tirador”, “Tambolista”, “Serbis” and “Kinatay”. He also did gay themed films like “Daybreak” and “Jay”. On TV, he was first given a break in several seasons of the afternoon drama “Daisy Siete”. But it was ABS-CBN who took good notice of him and gave him better breaks in afternoon shows like “Tiny Tony” and “Ligaw na Bulaklak”.

His first primetime show where he got really noticed was “Tayong Dalawa”, which led to lead roles that made him a top TV draw in “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo”, “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin”, “Walang Hanggan”, “Juan de la Cruz” and “Ikaw Lamang”. He has just completed a new movie, “Padre de Pamilya”, with Nora Aunor, and he’s now doing “Feng Shui 2”, an entry in the Metro-Manila Filmfest, with Kris Aquino. Here’s praying for Coco to have more success in all his movie and TV projects.
