Director Gil Portes Says The Love Scenes Of Krista Miller & Kiko Matos In 'Hukluban' Border On Being Pornographic

DIRECTOR GIL PORTES feels lucky to have newcomers Krista Miller and Kiko Matos playing the lead roles in his Sineng Pambansa Horror Plus Filmfest entry, “Hukluban”. “Nagpa-audition ako at sila ang pinaka-impressive,” he says. “Before this, I don’t know them both. I explained to them that their roles require nudity at okay naman sa kanila. And they delivered. I’m so impressed. Walang nag-inarte at ginawa ang lahat ng pinagagawa ko sa kanila. Ang assistant ko ngang si Arman Reyes ang natakot dahil parang porno raw ang movie namin. Baka hindi naman daw maipalabas ang sobrang daring na mga ginawa nina Krista at Kiko.”

He says “Hukluban” is actually a reboot of his “Gising sa Magdamag” in 1983. “I was so frustrated with that movie kasi kinatay-katay ni Maria Kalaw Katigbak ng censors. So ngayon, ginawa ko yun the way it’s meant to be, very sexy and very daring. Salamat talaga at parehong walang inhibitions sina Krista at Kiko. Bigay na bigay talaga sila.”

Produced by Teamwork Film Productions, in partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), “Hukluban” is part of the Sineng Pambansa Horror Plus Filmfest that starts showing in SM Cinemas on October 29. It will have its premiere tonight, October 21, at

7 PM at SM North Edsa The Block. We tell Direk Gil “Hukluban” is not really a horror film but more of a sex-drama about a girl looking for true love that will lift the curse on her that makes her a young girl at night and a “matandang hukluban” at day. “Bayaan mo na yung entries nina Peque Gallaga (“T’yanak”) and Romy Suzara (‘Sigaw sa Hatinggabi”) ang manakot,” he says. “My movie stands by itself.”
