Judy Ann Santos Forms A Mutual Admiration Club With Directors Peque Gallaga & Lore Reyes After Doing 'T'yanak'

DIRECTORS PEQUE GALLAGA and Lore Reyes became instant fans of Judy Ann Santos after directing her in “T’yanak”. “Everytime she faces the camera, she surprises you,” says Direk Peque. “Before we do a scene, we talk about it, we rehearse, but during the actual take, there is an element coming from within her na gugulatin ka. We have 12 scenes na iyakan and she shines in all of them. On the first day of shoot, kinuha niya yung sapatos ng baby niya after she had a miscarriage and she cried. It’s amazing. You can see na ito talaga ang story of a woman who had three miscarriages. We’ve been wasting our lives not working with her.”

“Talagang sa bawat eksena, iba ang atake niya at interpretation niya from what we expect,” says Direk Lore. “At napalalabas niyang mas maganda. But she can be funny, too. In one scene, kasama niya si Tom Rodriguez, who plays her brother, at kausap niya yung husband niya who’s abroad at nakikiusap siya rito. ‘Dennis, umuwi ka na.’ Pero right after the take, biglang sabi niya, while looking at Tom, ‘O Dennis, huwag ka nang umuwi, okay na ako rito.’ So nagtawanan kaming lahat.”

“Working with them is part of my bucket list kasi I’ve heard from a lot of people who worked with them na marami talaga silang natutunan from them,” says Juday. “When Direk Peque announced he’d retire, sabi ko, naku, wala nang pag-asang maidirek nila ako. Kaya when this offer came, I got so excited with the chance of finally experiencing them for myself. Now, I’m just so happy and proud na may natapos akong beautiful movie with two very good directors.”

“T’yanak” is part of Sineng Pambansa Horror Filmfest that opens in theatres on October 29. They will have their gala night at SM Megamall Cinema 7 on Wednesday.
