Kaye Abad Finally Plays Lead In 'Two Wives', Reveals How She Felt When Jodi Sta. Maria Hit It Big In 'Be Careful'

AFTER SO many years of playing supporting and contravida roles (the last one was in “Anna Liza”), we’re glad that Kaye Abad is finally given a lead role in “Two Wives”, an adaptation of a Koreanovela about infidelity. Kaye started in “Tabing Ilog” as a teenager and, as we all know now, its biggest graduates are John Lloyd Cruz and Jodi Sta. Maria. How did she feel when Jodi hit it big in “Be Careful with My Heart”.

“Nainis nga ako sa kanya, e. Sabi ko, bakit ganun?” she says. “Joke. Hindi, we’re all friends and we’re all happy for each other’s accomplishments. Very deserving naman si Jodi. But I’m glad dumating din itong break ko. Nahuli lang. I’m really thankful to ABS for giving me this good project. Mas todo ang acting ko ngayon, mas gagalingan ko para ipakitang hindi sila nagkamali sa decision nila.”

In “Two Wives”, she plays Yvonne, the happy wife of Jason Abalos. Their peaceful marital relationship is shattered when Jason gets involved with Erich Gonzales, a single mom whose daughter gets so attached to Jason, their gardener. Erich gets Jason as a “dad for hire” for her daughter but eventually, they also fall of each other. There will be a twist in the story as, later on, Erich will be the legal wife and Kaye will be the mistress. How this will happen is something you should watch out for.

“Two Wives” replaces “Sana Bukas Pa” on Monday. It’s produced by the group of Ruel Bayani, with Gina Tagasa Gil as creative head, directed by FM Reyes and Richard Arellano. With regard to her love life, Kaye is now on with Paul Jake Castillo, a PBB discovery who used to be with Melissa Ricks. Kaye’s ex-BF is Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar, who is now engaged to be married to Nerissa Naig. What can she say about this?

“Masaya ako for them,” she says. “They deserve to be happy. Sa dami ng pinagdaanan nila, they are entitled to have a happy ending.”

The rest of the cast are similarly committed. Jason is with PBB’s Vickie Rushton, Erich is with her non-showbiz BF who’s a relative of Henry Sy and Patrick will get married in March to his non-showbiz girlfriend.
