THE PREMIERE night of Romy Suzara’s “Sigaw sa Hatinggabi” at SM North Edsa last Thursday ended in disaster. The people waited for three hours and when the movie started, the image on screen was so pixillated that everyone walked out. It turned that post production work for the movie was not completed on time.
It was so embarrassing for lead star Regine Angeles as the movie is her first starring role and her leading man, Richard Quan. “Humihingi kami ng paumanhin sa nangyaring technical problems,” she says.
Both Regine and Richard are members of the Iglesia ni Kristo so they’ve known each other for quite a time as they attend their church events together. Did they ask special permission to do a horror movie like “Sigaw sa Hatinggabi”?
“No need,” says Regine. “As long as you’re aware of your limitations in portraying your role on screen, walang problema.”
“I’ve played the role of a priest several times at okay lang naman sa kanila,” says Richard, who is in the cast of two coming Metro Filmfest entries, “Bonifacio” with Robin Padilla and Vina Morales, and “Shake Rattle & Roll 15, Ulam episode” with Dennis Trillo and Carla Abellana.
How come Yasmien Kurdi was ousted from being an INC? They say it’s because she got married and had a daughter with a non-INC member. They’re calling to all their brothers and sisters in the same faith to watch their movie. “Kung lahat ng INC members, susuportahan ang ‘Sigaw sa Hatinggabi’, kami ang magiging number one sa takilya sa FDCP Sineng Pambansa Horror Plus Filmfest,” they say.
Both Regine and Richard are talents of Direk Manny Valera, who is celebrating his birthday tomorrow. Happy birthday, Manny V!
