CAMILLE PRATS says being a single working mom is not easy. Her son, Nathan, is now 6 years old. Aside from doing hosting in the hit women’s show, “Mars”, and acting in the new primetime soap, “Second Chances” (that will replace “Hiram na Alaala” in January), she is also the directress of their school, Divine Angels Montessori, which she founded with her Kuya John Prats.
“I handle the business side of it,” she says. “I took up a six-month Montessori course to prepare myself for the job. It’s so fulfilling as I love being around kids. Ang saya-saya to be around them. As of now, we have 200 students from pre-school to grade 6. Later, magdaragdag kami hanggang grade 12.”
Her son is not enrolled in their own school. “Para hindi kami ma-accuse ng favouritism or conflict of interest.”
She’s so busy. How does she do it? “Good time management lang talaga ang kailangan.”
How does she feel now that her Kuya is engaged to Isabel Oli? “We’re very close kaya naging emotional din ako. But I’m very happy for him kasi alam ko na ’yung taong mapapangasawa niya ay karapat-dapat para sa kanya. Ako ang dahilan kaya sila nagkakilala, e.”
Is her BF John Yambao coming home from Christmas? “No, kasi kami ng buong family ko ang pupunta roon for the holidays, kaya magkikita kami roon. Kaya we’re advancing some episodes for ‘Mars’ and October pa kami nag-start mag-taping for ‘Second Chances’ kaya marami na kaming na-advanced na trabaho roon. ‘Second Chances’ will have its launch and presscon on January 6 at wala ako kasi nasa States pa ako by that time. Alam naman ng GMA and they understand.”
She and “Mars” co-host Suzi Entrata Abrera have become the best of friends since they started hosting “Mars” two and a half years ago. Suzi says she learned how to act because of Camille.
“I call her Ate and I learned so much from her about hosting in English,” says Camille. “Dahil sa kanya, lumawak ang vocabulary ko. I also ask her help about parenting kasi she has three daughter, so mas marami siyang experiences about mothering. She’s so health conscious din kaya she helps me about the right diet, about workouts. Naging conscious ako sa kinakain ko kaya very good influence talaga siya sa akin.”
Today, the first day of the last month of December, Camille and Suzi will deal with regional traits of Filipinos. Is it true Ilocanos are kuripot? Batanguenos are palaban? Cebuanos are malambing? They will discusss in Mars Sharing Group with Leo Martinez from Batangas and Diva Montelaba from Cebu as their special guests. Diva then shows how to cook a traditional Visayan dish, Binignit vegetable soup. Then they all do an exercise to make your hips and thighs slimmer.
For Tuesday, the guests are Julia Clarete of “Eat Bulaga” who’ll show how to prepare the Italian food Calzone and Erika Padilla from “Lihim ni Annasandra” will demonstrate how to make your body more flexible through yoga and the the jazzy booty dance. On Wednesday, Gladys Reyes’ hubby, Christopher Roxas, shows to make a gourmet tilapia dish. Sheree demonstrates how to make handy Christmas gifts. Then they discuss marriage and it’s do’s and dont’s.
Camille is also so fulfilled with her role in “Second Chances”. “First time ko to play the role of someone who’s bipolar. Grabe ang mood swings ng character ko. Masayang-masaya, tapos biglang depressed. Father ko si Roi Vinzon and he makes sure I get everything I want. Kontrabida ako rito kay Jennylyn Mercado and we are with Raymart Santiago and Rafael Rossell. Hindi madali yung role ko, nakakapagod emotionally. Malayong-malayo sa api-apihan roles that I did before. Very demanding pa si Direk Laurice Guillen kaya confident akong I’ll do justice naman to my role.”
