EDU MANZANO is wondering why Ronnie Ricketts thinks he’s the reason why Ronnie was suspended as OMB Chairman. “For the record, wala akong interest mabalik sa OMB and even if they offer it to me, ayoko,” he says. “Cases, both criminal and administrative, were filed against him and five other OMB personnel and I have nothing to do with them. Harapin at sagutin na lang niya ang mga paratang sa kanya imbes na ibunton ang sisi sa ibang tao. My conscience is clear. Yung isang tauhan nila, si Glenn Perez, may official answer about the hauling out of seized DVDs. Siya raw ang may instruction to load the DVDs sa van. Yun ang sagutin niya. But I’m really concerned sa mga inosenteng tauhan ng OMB na nadadamay sa mga kaso niya. Ang tatagal na ng iba sa kanila sa OMB, what if they’d lose their jobs? Baka mawala pa pati ang benefits na nakatakda nilang tanggapin when they retire.”
He says he even got a death threat from one of Ronnie’s men who even said: “Alam namin kunsaan ka nakatira.” Both he and Ronnie are now doing soaps with ABS-CBN. What if they’d see each other and Ronnie confronts him? “Aba, e kung sasaktan niya ako, senior citizen na ako, magsusumbong ako sa anak kong si Luis,” he jokes. He’s actually turning 60 in September 2015 yet.
Is his daughter, Addie, also joining showbiz after modelling for Bench? “I told her that like her Kuya Luis, magtapos muna siya ng college and, after that, bahala na siyang mag-decide for herself.”
Edu is acting again in a teleserye, “Bridges”, where he plays the stepdad of Xian Lim. “Na-miss ko rin umarte,” he says. “Puro hosting kasi ako lately.”
He’s also slated to start shooting a new movie for Star Cinema, “Halik sa Hangin”, with JC de Vera, Gerald Anderson and Julia Montes.
