Former Wonder Boy Nino Muhlach Doesn't Want His Son Alonzo To Be Compared To Him

ALONZO Muhlach is the son of former child supertar Niño Muhlach with his second wife. Niño has another son, Alessandro, now a teenager, from a past relationship, theatre actress Edith Millare. Between the two, it’s Alonzo who looks like him at the height of his popularity as local filmdom’s child wonder. Alonzo was discovered when he appeared in “Bet on Your Baby” and “Pinoy Big Brother” where his being a talkative and precocious child appealed to a lot of people.

A lot of folks are predicting that Alonzo will be as famous as his dad. He now appears in his first big movie, “My Big Bossing’s Adventures”, as the new partner of Ryzza Mae Dizon who says that like Bimby Yap, her partner in last year’s “My Little Bossings”, Alonzo is also an Inglisero who’s giving her a nosebleed when they talk to each other.

Nino appears with Alonzo in the “Prinsesa” episode of “Big Bossing’s Adventures”, so people say that they’re a father and son package deal. “That’s not true,” says Niño. “Nagkataon lang na kinuha rin ako rito. Actually, I’m worried for my son as some people tend to compare him with me. Honestly, alam ko namang mahirap nang maulit yung nagawa ko noong araw kasi iba na ang sitwasyon ng movies ngayon. I did 40 films na ako ang bida for our own company, D’Wonder Films. Kahit si Ryzza na pinakasikat na bata ngayon, hindi siguro magagawa yun simply because iba na ang industriya ng pelikula ngayon. Kaya sana, huwag na lang i-compare sa akin ang anak ko. But I’m happy na maganda ang reception so far ng mga tao sa kanya. Ganun pala ang feeling ng mga magulang ng child stars na nakikitang nasasayahan ang mga tao sa mga anak nila. Iba ang satisfaction, so I’m really proud of my son.”

Alonzo says he really loves acting. Nino commands him to do drama for the press and he quickly assumes the mien of a pitiful child who’s crying. He can also sing, dance and do comedy. Everything comes automatically, no need for motivation or internalization. “Parang sinususian lang,” says one writer.

Meantime, what can Ryzza say now that Bimby stars in their rival movie with Vice Ganda? “Kami po ni Alonzo ang magiging number one,” she says. “Number 3 lang siya.”

Who’ll be number 2? “Kami pa rin po,” she replies confidently.
