Ogie Alcasid Goes Into Talent Management, Introduces His Wards Lara Maigue, Empoy, Davey Langit & Qyork

OGIE ALCASID has put up his own talent agency, A TEAM, which stands for Alcasid Total Entertainment and Artist Management. His initial talents are singers-songwriters at the Elements Songwriting Camp in Dumaguete where he was a mentor. They are Lara Maigue, Davey Langit and Q York. Lara is a music student in UP, majoring in Voice, whose mom is soprano Nanette Moscardon and dad is Rayben Maigue, musical director of the UP Jazz Ensemble. She gained fame for writing the ‘Sa’Yo na Lang Ako’, interpreted by Karylle at the Philpop Musicfest. It became a hit on radio and was used as the theme song of Derek Ramsay’s “For Love or Money”. TV5 got her as part of their musical drama, “Trenderas”, which runs until December. She manages their own music school, Maigue Music Studio and she’s now also recording her first album, with her original composition “Without You” soon available for download. Why did she decide to be managed by Ogie?

“I can’t imagine anyone else managing me,” she says. “Sir Ogie perfectly understands my career as he’s also a singer-songwriter who’s also into acting.”

Isn’t she worried they might get linked and Regine Velasquez might get jealous? “No, walang ganun. They’re both nice to me. Ms. Regine even teaches how to put on make up kasi magaling siya mag-make up by herself. Kapag may bago akong song, Sir Ogie makes her listen at sinasabi niya agad kung nagustuhan niya. They treat me like their own child.”

How did Regine react when Ogie said he’ll manage his own talents? “Natuwa siya,” says Ogie. “Kasi kilala na rin naman niya ang mga batang ito and we really want to help new songwriters which is the lifeblood of the music industry. Pero bihira ang nagma-manage ng songwriters, e. Kadalasan, singers lang, o artista. We really need to discover more talented songwriters.”

What can he say about bashers who claim that his two wives aren’t really in good terms with each other and it’s all just “pakitang tao”? “Well, wala naman tayong magagawa sa ganun. Laging may kokontra so pabayaan na lang natin sila. Basta I’m happy na okay sina Regine at Michelle, at ganun din naman kami ni Mark, ang husband ngayon ni Michelle na isa ring napakabait na tao.”

More about Ogie’s other talents later.
