Quezon City International Pink Film Festival Will Show Controversial Gay Films Uncut From December 9 To 16

AS PART OF the 75th Anniversary of Quezon City’s founding, they will hold the first QC International Pink Filmfest featuring contemporary classic films with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender themes. Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte was present at its launch last Tuesday at Annabel’s.

The Pink Filmfest is in coordination with Quezon City Pride Council led by Direk Soxie Topacio, with Nick Deocampo as festival director. 46 films from various countries will be shown without censorship in Trinoma from December 9 to 16.

Among the films to be shown are Cannes Film Festival grand winner, “La Vie d’Adele (Blue is the Warmest Color)”, the German gay flick na “Freir Fall” and other acclaimed gay films from Sweden, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam.

The opening film is Deocampo’s docu, “#pinCity”, about an angel who comes down to earth to see what’s happening in Quezon City. Other local gay films to be shown are Joel Lamangan’s “Lihis”, Auraeus Solito’s “Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, Alvin Yapan’s “Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” and “Gaydar”, Jay Altarejos’ “Unfriend”, Andrea Bernardo’s “Ang Huling Cha Cha ni Anita”, and a new movie directed by Joey Paras, “Wala Na Bang Ibang Title?”

Part of the celebration will be the QC Gay Pride March on December 13, with participating floats from several barangays, civil society groups and LGBT advocates who support gender equality and respect for human dignity. There will also be an International Gender Rights Forum from December 10 to 12 at Trinoma, delving on the following themes involving LGBT life: Human Rights, Health and Education. There will be famous international and local speakers and LGBT leaders to participate. So don’t miss the first QC Pink Filmfest this December!
