Shamaine Buencamino Gets Internationally Acclaimed Director Lav Diaz As Her Leading Man In 'Lorna'

SHAMAINE BUENCAMINO won the best supporting actress award at Cinemalaya and the Asian Film Awards in Hongkong in 2011 for the film, “Nino”. We tell her she might win the best actress award this time for her title role portrayal of “Lorna” in the Cinema One Originals Filmfest.

“Parang mananalo nga ako,” she laughs.

We won’t be surprised as her role is really a good acting vehicle. Lorna is a 60-year old single woman who is still searching for Mr. Right. She finds two prospective lovers: an online friend (Felix Roco) and an old flame (director Lav Diaz who’s an actor this time.) The other men who come into her life are Alex Medina, Juan Rodrigo and Jim Paredes of APO. Also in the cast are Maria Isabel Lopez and Angel Aquino.

The movie is written and directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, who did the acclaimed “Huling Cha Cha ni Anita” that won acting awards for Therese Malvar and Angel Aquino. She describes “Lorna” as a story about being alone, growing old, looking for love and moving on, things that all of us can relate with. “Lorna” will have its gala screening on Wednesday, November 12, 7 PM at Glorietta Makati.
