BOY ABUNDA’S BACKROOM INC. celebrated its 25th anniversary and officially launched its own social media portal, www.backroom.ph, at Astoria Chardonnay in Pasig City. “I’m really proud of what Backroom was able to accomplish in 25 years,” said Boy Abunda. Backroom’s roster of artists include Ai Ai de las Alas, Dawn Zulueta, Gretchen Barretto, Bianca Gonzalez, Julius Babao and wife Tintin Bersola-Babao, Gelli de Belen, Drew Arellano, Mariel Rodriguez, K Brosas, Aiko Melendez, Pooh, Direk GB Sampedro, Arnold Reyes, Karen Davila, Amy Perez, Sitti Navarro, Ariel Rivera, Ima Castro, Dominic Ochoa, Duncan Ramos, and member of the group Not Your Ordinary Boys and Girls: Mauro Lumba, Benj Bolivar, Carlo Sawit, PJ Go, Kaye Chua, Avery Paraiso, Jennica Ollero and Junnel Manansala.
The Backroom website now connects the public to their favorite Backroom artists in their different social media platform which is in sync with Backroom’s social media portal. The site is interactive so fans can chat and get live updates from their favorite artists. The new Backroom website also boasts of having a Video Archive Section for the video clips and concert snippets, a Photo Gallery Section for the artist pictorials and latest fashion shoots, and a Marketplace Section where stars and fans can share/exchange/buy old and new stuff. For easy navigation, Backroom artists will have their own domain name. A mobile app for the site is also in development.
Backroom Pres. Rowena Salido says: “Tonight, we welcome you to a new level of connectivity. Social media is a great influencer and an effective channel that can effectively narrow a gap or widen our reach. All linkages (at the new portal) are meant to enhance greater bonding between the stars and the public.”
Boy Abunda put up Backroom in 1989 and it has since flourished as one of the top talent management companies in the country that also produces concerts and does multi-media promotions. In 2012, he gave up his position as president and managing director and handed over the reins to five senior employees. It has also branched into product launches, events management conceptualization and staging and movie production. For inquiries, call (02) 9280717 or email backroominc@hotmail.com
