Director Perci Intalan Says His 'Flight 666' Episode In 'Shake 15' Is Harder To Do Than His Full Length Debut 'Dementia'

DIRECTOR PERCI INTALAN is doing just an episode of “Shake Rattle & Roll 15”, but he says it’s more difficult to do than his full length film debut, “Dementia”. “Mas malaki kasi ang cast at maraming action scenes and special effects so mas mabusisi siyang gawin,” he says.

His episode, “Flight 666”, is about a creature born inside a plane that tries to kill all the passengers one by one. “We call it maligno kasi kagagawa lang ni Direk Peque Gallaga ng bagong version niya ng ‘T’yanak’. They used a puppet as the creature. Kami, it’s all computer generated. Mahirap gawin kasi ang daming trabaho ng CGI artists sa Imaginary Friends Lab. Other entries kasi also use a lot of CGI, like ‘Kubot’, ‘My Big Bossing’ and ‘Feng Shui’. Tambak nga raw ang trabaho nila, di na sila umuuwi and yet, during the rest of the year, madalang ang work nila.”

The lead stars of “Flight 666” are Lovi Poe and Matteo Guidicelli as an estranged couple who meet again inside the plane by chance. Lovi is a flight attendant and Matteo is a doctor. Other stars are Daniel Matsunaga and Nathalie Hart also as flight attendants, Bernard Palanca as a hijacker, Ria Garcia as the mother of the malign, and as passengers: “Matanglawin” host Kuya Kim Atienza, comedians John Lapus, Kiray Celis, Joy Viado and IC Mendoza. Introducing is the Mossimo hunk, John Spainhour, who plays the toy boy of a rich matrona, played by Arlene Muhlach. “Horror comedy ito kasi maraming funny scenes,” adds Perci. “Watch out for that scene na sina Arlene and John try to make out inside the plane’s lavatory nang biglang dumating yung maligno. We shot it in the actual plane lavatory at ang sikip-sikip.”

Did he have any problem with his stars? “Yung schedule lang nila. Kapag may soap kasi o daily show like Kuya Kim, hindi puede mag-shooting lagi, so we have to work around their sked. Pero lahat, sila, very cooperative. Sina Matteo and Daniel, mahal ng crew kasi pareho magaling makisama.”

So what’s next for him after “Flight 666”? “I will be producing Jun’s new movies, ‘Anino sa Likod ng Buwan’ and a rom-com he’ll do for Regal.”
