ELMO MAGALONA denies he has a gap with former ka-love team Julie Anne San Jose. This story started when he snubbed the invitation to be a guest in her upcoming concert, “Hologram”, at the MOA Arena.
“Wala kaming gap,” says Elmo at the presscon of his movie “#Y” at ABS-CBN. “I'm not snubbing her. Nagbabatian kami when we see each other at ‘Sunday All Stars’. Suportado ko ang concert niya kaya lang may iba na akong commitment on that day kaya hindi ako puede.”
Some folks say that he’s intentionally distancing himself from Julie Ann now that his love team with Janine Gutierrez has clicked, first in “Villa Quintana” and now, in “More Than Words”. “Hindi naman. Walang ganun. Nagkataon lang talaga na busy ako. But it’s true na we’re no longer as close as before. E, kasi noon, lagi kaming may number together kaya we rehearse, we perform, nagkikita lagi. But hindi na nga ngayon.”
Because he was in ABS-CBN, some quarters quickly concluded that he is jumping “ober da bakod” and leaving GMA-7 soon just like his Ate Maxene. “May contract pa ko sa GMA up to August next year and I’m happy with them. Also, meron akong ‘More Than Words’, so it’s not true. I’m at ABS simply because they’re releasing ‘#Y’ where I play the lead role at dito ginawa ang presscon. But I’m happy for my Ate Maxene kasi nabigyan agad siya ng regular show.”
Elmo is glad that the feedback for his portrayal of a restless young college boy in “#Y” is very positive. “Hindi lang naman ako but the whole cast that’s why we won the best ensemble acting award in Cinemalaya. We owe it all to Director Gino Santos who gave us freedom to interpret our own roles.”
“#Y” opens tomorrow in theatres nationwide.
