Jennylyn Mercado Dismisses Rumors That She And Dennis Trillo Have Reconciled, Upbeat About Her Filmfest Entry, 'English Only Please'

JENNYLYN MERCADO is currently being linked to Dennis Trillo but she insists she has no time for love at the moment since she is so busy with so many things. She has a new movie, “English Only Please”, with Derek Ramsay. She has a new primetime soap, “Second Chances”, with Raymart Santiago, Luis Alandy and Rafael Rosell that starts airing on January 12. And she’s also busy promoting her new album, in which she has a song where she duets with Dennis.

“Kaya siguro kami nali-link dahil nag-duet kami, pero hanggang doon lang yun,” she insists. “Sumama rin siyang mag-bike sa group namin sa Sierra Madre but that’s all. Walang bagong ligawang nangyari at hindi pa rin ako ready pumasok sa isang bagong relasyon sa dami ng projects ko.”

How is it working with Derek in “English Only Please”? “Noong una, kinakabahan ako kasi first time ko to work with him. But he’s such a gentleman kaya naging comfortable kami agad sa isa’t isa. Ang dami naming agad napag-usapan about sports, about food kasi mahilig kami parehong kumain. Very professional siya. Masayang katrabaho, laging may dalang baong Dunkin’ Donuts sa shooting.”

Does she feel pressured that she has an entry in the coming filmfest? “Siempre, kasi ang lalaki ng mga kalaban namin. But I guarantee lahat ng manonood ng ‘English Only Please’ na they’ll enjoy the movie at lalabas sila lahat ng sinehan na natawa sila, kinilig sila.”

In the story, she plays Tere Madlansacay, a private tutor teaching English and Tagalog to Fil-Ams and Koreans. “Kabe-break ko lang sa boyfriend ko, si Kean Cipriano, then I was hired by Derek, who plays a balikbayan from New York named Julian Parker, para turuan siyang magsalita ng tuwid ng Tagalog. Gusto niya kasing personal na ipamukha sa ex-girlfriend niyang si Isabel Oli how much he got hurt nang iwanan siya nito at mapunta kay Tom Rodriguez. Nagsimula kami sa teacher-student relationship hanggang mapalapit kami sa isa’t isa. Romantic comedy ito na marami talagang laugh out loud scenes kaya you will surely feel good after watching it. Perfect para sa holiday season.”

Playing Jen’s mom in the film is Lyn Ynchausti Cruz, the wife of Tirso Cruz III who’s acting for the first time, while her two older brothers are Ian de Leon and Jeffrey Hidalgo. Playing Jen’s best friend is Cai Cortez, a single mom with a precocious daughter, Lenlen Frial. Cai has no less than three boyfriends in the story: Alex Medina, Alchris Galura and Director Quark Henares who tries acting for a change.
