Martin Nievera Remains To Be The Concert's One And Only Concert King So In Demand Here And Abroad

MARTIN NIEVERA surely remains to be the Concert King as he is a very much in demand as a concert artist up to now here and abroad. After his vastly successful “Penthouse Live” reunion concert with ex-wife Pops Fernandez at PICC last Friday, he’ll next be seen in a new year show, “The Big Mouth Rocks a New Year” at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura on January 3. But before that, he’s flying to the U.S. to do Christmas concerts at Suncoast Las Vegas then a concert in Detroit, Michigan on December 26. Then he flies back to Manila for the New Year concert. Then in February, he’ll have a big Valentine concert with Regine Velasquez at MOA Arena. He’s most certainly the undisputed Lagari King among concert artists!

“I like that title,” he says. “Lagari King. I’m really so busy this year and I do hope ganun pa rin ako ka-busy in 2015.”

That he has maintained his good relationship with Pops despite their separation is very evident in their light hearted banter at the PICC show. “Yes, I’m glad we were able to maintain our friendship. We’re really much more okay now. We can make kulitan on stage. I can even kid her about the younger guys who are being linked to her. When I call up our sons Robin and Ram and they won’t answer me, I’d then call Pops and ask kung kasama niya ang mga anak namin, then she will pass the phone to them. That’s how I get to talk to our sons pag ayaw nilang sagutin ang tawag ko.”

For his “Big Mouth” concert, Martin will be singing the songs from his newest PolyEast album, “Big Mouth Big Band”, a tribute to the biggest bands of the 80s like Queen and Eart Wind & Fire. There are 12 songs in the album. We just listened to them and the songs “Biggest Part of Me’, “Hooked on a Feeling”, “Dust in the Wind”, “Love of My Life”, “Will You Still Love” really brought back some pleasant memories.

Martin will be accompanied in his Big Mouth concert by the same band who worked with him in the album, led by Marvin Querido. His guests are talented young singers KZ Tandingan, Allen Sta. Maria and Morisette Amon, all belters. The concert is sponsored by Belo Medical, Jet 7 Bistro, 10 Inch Light & Sounds, Star Studio, PEP and Kawasaki. You can get your tickets now at Ticketnet and better hurry as Samsung Hall only has 900 seats.
