QC MAYOR HERBERT BAUTISTA formally launched the Quezon City International Pink Film Festival (QCIPFF) at Trinoma last Monday night at the height to Typhoon Ruby. They can’t postpone it because so many foreign filmmakers and delegates have already come for the event. He’s supported by Quezon City Councilors Roderick Paulate and Mayen Juico. The fabulous opening number featured Club Mwah performers of Pocholo Manlillin, with song numbers by Sam Concepcion at Morisette Amon. LGTB stalwarts, Directors Soxie Topacio and Nick Deocampo, gave the opening remarks. A posthumous award was given to the late Dolphy for his contribution to the better understanding of gays in his films like “Tatay Kong Nanay” and “Markova”.
Mayor Herbert is really very open in his support for gay rights. Personally, he approves gay marriage but more conservative officials advised him not to start it in QC.
“I want to protect the property rights of the gay secort, he says. “May longtime companions for 10 to 15 years, nakapagpundar sila as a couple but nang may namatay ang isa sa kanila, dahil walang official contract silang dalawa, lahat ng property nila, kinuha ng kamag-anak ng namatay so kawawa naman yung naulilang partner. Naniniwala ako sa gay relationship. Ang pagmamahal naman o ang pag-ibig wala namang pinipiling gender ‘yan.”
You can watch the entries in the Pink Filmfest at Trinoma for only P100 per ticket, until December 14. Don’t miss award winning films like “Blue is the Warmest Color” and “Stranger by the Lake”, uncensored.
