RR used to be a co-host of Willie Revillame’s noontime show, “Wowowee”, while Jeck was part of the ABS-CBN game show “Deal or No Deal”. They soon became good friends and found out that they have another thing in common. Their significant others are both basketball players from the Ginebra team. RR is in a relationship with JJ Helterbrand for five years now, while Jeck is married to Rico Maierhofer. Their other two co-hosts in “Happy Wife, Happy Life” are also married to cagers: Danica Sotto who’s the wife of Mark Pingris and LJ Moreno who’s the wife of Jimmy Alapag. In the first episode of “Happy Wife”, they will have their own spouses as their special guest. What are the qualities they like the most in their respective partner?
“JJ is crazy, fun to be with, and we do Bible studies together,” says RR. “Sobrang happy ako sa kanya kasi nakatulong talaga na nakilala namin si Lord para mag-improve ang aming relationship. Pinagpe-pray ko talaga na sana, makasal na kami and have our own baby. He’s divorced at may daughter siya from his first wife in the U.S. na 11 years old lang nang makasama namin. She’s now 15. Noong una, nag-aaway kami kasi possessive siya sa dad niya. JJ, told me, pinapatulan mo yan, e bata yan. Pero dahil sa Bible studies, nagkasundo rin kami.”
“Happy ako kasi spoiled ako sa asawa ko,” says Jeck, who’s the younger sister of Cindi Conwi, wife of Alvin Patrimonio. “Not just sa material things kundi sa pagiging supportive niya sa’kin. We have a son, Khalel, who’s more than a year old. When I told Rico, I want to join ‘Amazing Race’, okay lang sa kanya kahit iwanan ko muna sila ng baby namin. He also helped me put up my own businesses: a laundry shop, a pharmacy and a cafe. When I said kinukuha ako as host ng ‘Happy Wife’, pumayag din siya agad as he’s happy to see me grow.”
How is it working with Danica and LJ who are more senior than them in showbiz? “We get along fine, nagkasundo kami agad lahat,” says RR.
“Pinanood ng TV5 bosses ang pilot show namin at nagustuhan nila,” says Jeck. “Maganda raw ang chemistry namin. We consider Danica and LJ as our idols. Sana magtagal ang show namin.”
